About London Female Personal Trainer
Written for the person
thinking about starting
The people this is written for arrive at different points. Some have never lifted anything heavier than a kettlebell in a class and want to know where a barbell fits. Some are coming back after a baby, having been told to wait without being told what to do when the waiting ends. Some are in their 40s and 50s, watching recovery slow and body composition shift, and want a plan that accounts for it. The training is the same discipline in each case, whether the session runs 45 or 60 minutes, and the starting point and the pacing are what change.
London Female Personal Trainer is an independent guide owned by the UNTIL group. It employs no trainers, sets no prices and takes no payment. It says plainly where a trainer stops and a physiotherapist or doctor starts, and if you decide you want to train, UNTIL Health Concierge arranges an introduction at whichever of the four central London clubs suits your week.
How It Works
Your journey,
step by step
Say what you want to be able to do
The most useful thing to arrive with is a capability rather than a number: carrying the shopping without stopping, getting back to running, lifting your own bodyweight, or simply not dreading the gym. Goals framed that way survive a bad month. Goals framed as a weight tend not to.
Meet the trainer before you commit
Tell UNTIL Health Concierge what you are looking for and they arrange an introduction to an independent trainer at one of the four clubs. You meet them before committing to anything. If what you want is outside what they do, the useful answer is to say so at that point.
Ask to see the written programme
The coached hour is the visible part. The part that produces the change is the written plan behind it: which movements, at what loads, for how many weeks, and what changes when. Ask to see it. A trainer who cannot show you one is selling supervision rather than coaching.
Week eight is where the numbers talk
Working weights should be moving by week six for most people, and coordination arrives before strength does, so the first fortnight feels clumsy for everybody. At week eight the honest question is whether the loads on the sheet have gone up and whether you are still turning up.
FAQ
Common
questions
What is London Female Personal Trainer?
An independent guide owned by the UNTIL group, which runs four private clubs in central London. London Female Personal Trainer employs no trainers, sells no packages and takes no payment, and it names nobody, because the roster does not record gender and that must never be inferred from a first name. Introductions are made by UNTIL Health Concierge.
Why do women ask for a female personal trainer?
Usually for three concrete reasons. Conversations about pregnancy, the postnatal return, periods and perimenopause land more easily. Being corrected and watched while a lift fails is more comfortable. And there is a long history of being handed lighter weights than the equivalent man and steered toward a class. Each of those is a reasonable thing to want.
Are the clubs London Female Personal Trainer uses women-only?
No. London Female Personal Trainer introduces you to trainers at four UNTIL clubs and all four are mixed, which is worth knowing in advance if a women-only facility is specifically what you are looking for. Sessions are one to one with your trainer on the gym floor rather than in a class or a separate area.
Where are the clubs?
Soho on Charing Cross Road, Liverpool Street on Bishopsgate, Marylebone on Orchard Street and Canary Wharf on South Colonnade. Which one you use is usually decided by your commute rather than by anything else, and the introduction takes that into account.
Is there a fitness level I need to reach first?
No, and that expectation stops more people starting than anything else does. No gym experience is assumed anywhere on this site. A first session should give you a handful of movements learned properly and a plan, rather than an assessment of everything you cannot do yet.
How do I choose between two trainers?
Ask each of them what they would do in the first month and listen for whether the answer is about you or about their method. Ask what they will not take on and where they refer instead, because a trainer with no referral list has no edges. London Female Personal Trainer recommends nobody, so the comparison is yours to make.
Is this suitable if I am pregnant or recently postnatal?
Often, with the right adjustments and with the boundaries respected. Training is generally supported in an uncomplicated pregnancy, and the postnatal return starts after a postnatal check. Pelvic floor symptoms, abdominal separation and pain go to a physiotherapist or a doctor, not to a trainer.
What should a postnatal trainer be able to tell me?
What they will check before loading anything, in what order they will bring intensity back, and which symptoms send you to a physiotherapist instead of into the next session. Leaking, a heaviness low down, doming along the midline and any pain are that list. A trainer who names it unprompted has worked with postnatal clients.
How much is a personal trainer in London?
PureGym, which employs more personal trainers than anyone else in the country, publishes a London range of roughly £45 to £65 for a session of forty-five to sixty minutes. Rates at the clubs are set by the individual trainer and are not published, so ask what a block contains beyond the hour and what happens if you need to pause.
What does the first month realistically look like?
A handful of movements repeated often enough to stop feeling strange, weights that go up in small increments, and probably one week where nothing feels like progress. Strength usually moves before anything visible does. Judge the month on whether you turned up and whether the load rose, because both are inside your control and neither depends on the scale.
What can a personal trainer not help with?
Diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation of an injury and clinical nutrition all sit outside a trainer's scope. So does anything about medication or hormones. A trainer who names those limits without being asked has thought about them, which is a reasonable thing to look for.
What happens after I enquire through this site?
UNTIL Health Concierge makes an introduction to an independent trainer at whichever club suits your week, and you arrange the first session with them directly. London Female Personal Trainer takes no booking, no payment and no fee for the introduction. If the trainer is not the right fit after that first session, say so and ask for another.
